The holidays are often a time for parties and getting together with family.  But with the coronavirus still going strong State Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says this year is going to take some extra planning.

“Remember if people are coming to your home from out of town, or you yourself will be going out of town, try to see if  you can limit your exposures in the preceding 2 weeks.  The fewer exposures people have, the lower the likelihood of catching the infection.”

Ezike says even small gatherings pose a risk of infection.

“I know of a party there were 20 guests, 10 people ended up positive and one already hospitalized.  There are funerals that have ended up in additional funerals.  That’s not the goals of any of these events.”

Ezike advises everyone to wear a mask when not eating or drinking, hosting gatherings outside if the weather allows and increasing air flow inside by cracking the windows.  She says it’s also a good idea to skip the buffet style dinner this year and have just one person serving the food.
