St Mary’s Centralia/Willow Grove beat Coulterville for the SIJHSAA Class S state title in Pinckneyville 4-2. Reese Koester drove in 2 runs in the top of the 6th to put the Wildcards on top for good. Maddy Francois had 3hits with a run and RBI, Emrie Quick added 2 hits with a run, Kylie Nalewajka had a hit and a run, Mackenzie Perez had a hit, Olivia Neudecker drove in a run and Remi McDonald scored. Francois got the win going all 7 innings striking out 12. In the 3rd place game it was New Hope over Dongola 12-9.
In Class L at Centralia, Carterville won the state title 16-3 over Murphysboro, Carmi beat Carlyle in the 3rd place game 8-1.
In Class M softball, Pinckneyville is the state champ after their 11-1 win over NCOE. Nashville nipped Crab Orchard 3-2 in the 3rd place game.
