The Salem Country Club was the site for one of four IHSA Class 1A sectional qualifiers for girls golf on Monday. The sectional competition included 8 full teams that advanced from their respective regional competitions and, also individual qualifiers from 16 other teams.
The Salem Lady Wildcats only qualifier from the regional competition was Kenzie Anderson, a junior at Salem Community High School. This makes the 3rd year in a row that Anderson has qualified and played in sectional competition. Anderson posted a 7 over par 80 and tied for the 9th place position out of 66 total participants.

Mt Carmel’s Lillian Gottman was medalist shooting 71, Marquette’s Gracie Piar was 2nd followed by Mt Carmel’s Madelyn Young and then Effingham’s Ava Boehm. Mt Carmel also won the team title shooting 312 to St Anthony’s 321, Massac County was 3rd 335, Marquette 4th at 340, Columbia, Waterloo, Ziegler and Civic Memorial rounded out the top 8.
The 2a girls sectional hosted by Champaign Centennial at the University of Illinois Golf Course in Savoy will be played today. Advancing as individuals from the Marion Regional last week were Marion’s Sarah Capel and Baylee Kelley. Teams competing will be O’Fallon, Edwardsville, Dunlap, Washington, Lincoln-Way Central, Lockport, Quincy and Springfield.
