William “Bill” Everett McKinney, 72, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:47 am October 7, 2020 at his residence in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mr. McKinney proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years. He was a computer management assistant for twenty-two and a half years. Bill attended Mount Vernon Baptist Temple and will be greatly missed.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Union Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Tim Reynolds officiating. Full Military Rites will be held at the cemetery by Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141. Inurnment will follow. Memorials in Bill’s honor may be made to the McKinney family in care of Tim McKinney to be put towards a monument for Bill.Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. Bill is survived by the love of his life, Linda McKinney of Mount Vernon, Illinois; son, Timothy McKinney and wife, Angie of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Angela Brown of West Frankfort, Illinois; grandchildren, Joseph L Brown, Jr. of West Frankfort, Illinois, Kalib Brown of West Frankfort, Illinois; and niece, Peggy.
He was born February 26, 1948 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Everett Thomas and Bessie May (Foster) McKinney. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Harris; twin sisters, Allie Osborne and Ila Brown; and son, Joseph L Brown, Sr.
