Harriett English, 92, of Okeechobee, Florida, formerly of Centralia, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 at Okeechobee Nursing Home in Okeechobee, Florida. Harriett loved to dance and she and John spent many happy years dancing and fishing in Okeechobee, Florida.
A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Survivors that will carry treasured memories are her devoted children, Ray McBride, Jr. and wife Penny of Beach Park, Illinois and Mary Hassenfuss of Knoxville, Tennessee; step-children: Carol Phelps and husband David, Sr. of Centralia, Illinois and Terry English and companion Patricia Kennedy of Port St. Lucie, Florida; cherished grandchildren: Patrick McBride, Jeremiah McBride, Robin Chastain, Stacy Hassenfuss and Jeff Hassenfuss; and precious great-grandchildren: Myah and Adonis McBride and Arie Hassenfuss.
She was born September 13, 1928 in Waukegan, Illinois to Martin and Viola Freeman. She married Ray McBride, Sr. They later divorced and two children were born of this union. Harriett married John English on November 4, 1981 and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and her brothers and sisters.
