Rome Grade School has announced there will be no classes on Thursday so those who desire can attend the visitation and funeral of one of their classmates.
Ten-year-old Braden Tate died Friday afternoon when he was struck by a car on Route 37 just north of Mt. Vernon. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies are handling the crash with assistance from a state police accident reconstructionist. No details have yet been released.
Rome Grade School notes in a Facebook post the tremendous outpouring of support for the Tate family. They note there is a very strong bond n all of the education community and it shows in times like these.
Mt. Vernon Township High School is providing counselors at school on Tuesday to help staff and students in the grieving process.
Visitation for Braden Tate will be from ten to one, followed by the funeral service at one Thursday afternoon at the Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon.
