Clay County Health Department contact tracing for North Clay teacher testing positive for COVID-19

The Clay County Health Department is completing contact tracing on a North Clay Community Unit School District teacher who has tested positive for COVID-19.  The male in his 40’s has had no known contact with a COVID positive case and is recovering at home.

Schedules, seating charts, and video are being reviewed to identify students that were in close contact with the positive staff member during the 48hours prior to the development of symptoms.  All those falling in the ‘close contact’ category have been contacted and placed in quarantine for 14 days.  Students and parents that have not received a call have no greater risk of exposure to COVID-19 than the general population.

After eight weeks of school and practicing precautions, North Clay has only had three cases closely connected to the school.   School administrators say they are pleased with the success of their COVID-19 Mitigation plan so far.
