The Salem Wildcats finished 3rd at the Mascoutah Regional. Luke Light shot 82 and advanced to Sectionals to be held next week at Greenview Golf Course in Centralia. This year only the top 2 teams advanced to Sectionals with Salem missing out by 3 shots. Highland won the event shooting 336 and Mascoutah advanced with a 348. Salem added a 351 and Centralia shot 352 with Waterloo 5th followed by Columbia 6, Breese Central 7, Freeburg 8 and Triad 9th.
Following Light’s 82 was freshman Jairen Stroud and Cale Harris who shot 84 and 89 and sophomore Hunter Russell added a 96. Tyson Mann shot 108 and Isaak Williams 110.
Mater Dei senior Ian Berndsen drained an eagle putt to win the Class 1a Okawville individual title. Mater Dei won the team event and advanced along with Althoff.
