The Salem Lady Cats will be the section golf host this year and the unbeaten Lady Cats hope to be there competing themselves. They will compete in the 1a Alton Marquette Regional today at Spencer T Olin Golf Course in Alton. The Lady Cats will compete against a field that will also see Breese Central, Mater Dei, Centralia, Christ Our Rock, Odin and Vandalia among others. The top individuals and teams advance to the Salem Country Club on Monday.
Also feeding into the Salem Sectional are regionals at Mt Carmel including Altamont, Olney, TTown and Woodlawn. Also regionals at Carbondale and Waterloo Gibault.
Mt Vernon will compete in the Marion 2a regional at Kokopelli Golf Club along with the big schools from the Southwestern Conference. The top qualifiers advance to the Centennial Sectional at the University of Illinois Golf Course in Savoy. Also feeding in are regionals at Pekin, Minooka and Decatur.
