The Franklin Park Bobcats Cross Country Team hosted runners from Fairfield and Mt. Vernon on Tuesday.
Salem took the first 8 spots and 9 out of 10 to win their event with a perfect 15 points. Caiden Beer led the way finishing in 11:19 followed by Eli Baker in 11:21, Cole Casburn 11:24, Robbie Shober 11:39 and Caleb Purintun 11:51 to round out the top five. Hunter Malan was 6th with a pair of sixth graders running their first ever varsity race with Payton Gullion 7th in 12:04 and Avery Gullion 10th in 12:49. Steven McIntosh was sandwiched in between finishing 8th in 12:17.
The Salem varsity girls also won their meet taking 4 out of the top 6 spots. Kendall Zimmerman was 2nd in 12:34 with Aila Laird 3rd in 12:36 and Findley Purcelli 4th in 13:32. Ella Robinson was 6th in 13:51 and Brianna Redenbo 7th in 14:00. Allison Thurman and Caitlynn Bryan were 8-9 to finish in the top 10.
In the JV race Scout Purcelli nipped Alex Spencer to win the race 9:26 to 9:29 with Nate Lowry 3rd, Liam Shober was 4th and Caleb Squibb 6th. Kenzi Casburn won the girls race with Cadence Towal followed by Jocelyn Crites-Burgess, Nora Purcell and Addi Lever.
The Bobcats will compete against Olney and Centralia on Thursday in their last regular season meet before regionals.
