William “Tom” Thomas Bilderbeck, 72, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:42 pm on October 5, 2020, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Mr. Bilderbeck proudly served his country in the United States Army for two tours in Vietnam. He worked as Military Police and Dog Handler. Upon leaving the army, Tom worked as a coal miner in Sparta, Illinois. He was a member of Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners. Tom was a past president for Mount Vernon Moose and loved playing golf. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 9, 2020, at 10:00 am at Smith-Veterans Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Full Military Rites will be held by Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Tom’s honor to Mooseheart. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. He was born September 7, 1948, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Glenn and Dorothy (Coberly) Bilderbeck. Tom married Pam (Irvin) Bilderbeck on June 26, 1982, in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to his loving wife, Tom is survived by his sons, Justin Bilderbeck and wife, Sarah of Dahlgren, Illinois, Matt Bilderbeck of McLeansboro, Illinois; grandchildren, Brylee, Bryant, Brystol, Brody, Austin, and Brenna; mother of Tom’s children, Phyliss Parkhill; and nephew, Ronnie Bilderbeck of Kentucky. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Bilderbeck.
