A father and son from Collinsville were injured in a hit and run crash on I-64 six miles east of Mt. Vernon late Saturday night.
While reports are not yet available from State Police, Jefferson County Fire Protection District officials say the pickup that left the scene hit a second pickup causing it to overturn on its side. The driver, Chad Martin of Collinsville, and his father who was a passenger were both taken to Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment of injuries. Initial reports indicated entrapment, but both occupants were out upon the fire department’s arrival.
The hit and run vehicle was reportedly later found with no one inside at the Huck’s store on South Tenth Street in Mt. Vernon.
No word yet on any arrests being made in the case.
The crash occurred at 11:30 Saturday night.
