Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says the latest check of retailers found two that sold E-Cigarettes to underage buyers. He reports none sold package alcohol.
The clerks given citations for sale of E-Cigarettes to minors were Debra Murdach-Wilson at Farm Fresh on South Poplar and Nathaniel Louvier at the Circle K on East McCord Street. Both were given notices to appear n court.
Dodson says the compliance checks are performed to determine if local retailers are complying with state minimum age alcohol and E-cigarette laws that prohibit sale to minors. He says the City of Centralia has been educating tobacco retailers on minimum-age tobacco laws and the importance of verifying the age of their customers while conducting compliance checks.
Dodson is congratulating the retail managers and clerks who denied the sale to minors. He says keeping those products out of the hands of our youth is extremely important. As a reminder, Dodson says just like alcohol the legal age to purchase any tobacco or E-cigarette product is 21 years of age.
