Salem Police have arrested a 56-year-old Salem man for predatory criminal sexual assault.
Rayvon Garner of South Rotan was taken into custody on Wednesday after he allegedly admitted during an interview at the police station that he had sexual conduct with his 11-year-old grandchild.
Police report the victim had disclosed to their parents that the incident occurred last month while they were visiting Garner’s home. The parents then confronted Garner before police were called.
During an interview at the Amy Center, Salem Police report the alleged victim disclosed that there were more instances of sexual conduct that had occurred earlier.
Police do not believe any other children were involved. They say Garner had a previous conviction for a child sex offense in the 1980s, but was no longer required to register.
