A health advisory will remain in effect for water in Lake Centralia.
The City of Centralia has received new sample results that continues to show levels of blue-green algae above acceptable levels.
As a result, a State Health Advisory remains in effect not to be in contact with the water. High levels of Cyanobacteria can also impact the health of animals who should also be kept away from the water.
The State EPA did their first test last month after a dog that had been in the water died from the exposure. The cove area of the private residence where the initial cyanobacteria was reported is at 101 parts per billion in the latest test results. The level is at 10 parts per billion at the Lake Centralia Boat Docks.
Another resample will be taken on Wednesday, October 7th.
Centralia City Manager Lowell Crow says conditions can improve with additional rain and cooler temperatures. He says the city will continue to work closely with local and state public health and emergency response agencies to address the situation.
An announcement will be made when the health advisory is lifted.
