The Illinois Department of Public Health is issuing COVID-19 Halloween guidelines.
Halloween is a go…but Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says it might look a little different this year.
“Trick or treating could now involve just setting out individually wrapped pieces of candy, spaced out on a table where kids in costumes, socially distanced, could still come by and retrieve it. Activities like hayrides, pumpkin patches are allowed with limited capacity, masking, and social distancing.”
But there are some activities that are not allowed and recommended.
“Haunted houses are not permitted under phase 4 of Restore Illinois. We are asking adults to avoid crowded costume parties at homes or at bars which could absolutely increase your risk of getting COVID-19 and spreading it in your community.”
Ezike says if you plan on handing out candy to kids you should wear a mask…and that a cloth mask should be worn under a Halloween mask.
