Central City Police arrested two men on drug and weapon charges following an early Thursday morning traffic stop.
25-year-old Destrian Doza of Deerfield Road in Walnut Hill and passenger 21-year-old Lucas Bone of Community Beach Road in Centralia were both arrested for possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen license plate, as well as possession of meth and a controlled substance. Doza was also charged with driving on a suspended license and on a Marion
County traffic warrant.
Central City Police say they initially stopped the pickup truck because it had no headlights on. It was first determined Doza was driving on a suspended license and was wanted on the warrant.
When the center console was opened by Bone to get personal items, an officer saw an ammunition magazine for a gun. Further investigation showed it was loaded. Under five grams of methamphetamine and some narcotic pills were then located. After seeing a cup holder tray that appeared to be elevated, a loaded Glock 43 pistol was found underneath it.
A further inventory of the car turned up a license plate that had been taken from a vehicle stolen from Clinton County that was recovered about three months ago. The traffic stop occurred at 2:37 Thursday morning.
