Edwin Lee Austin, 55, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 10:08 am April 22, 2021, at his residence. Ed worked as a service technician at King City Chrysler in Mount Vernon since October 17, 1994. Ed was a member of East Salem Baptist Church and Mount Vernon Sportsmans Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and mushroom hunting. Ed will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Monday, April 26, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 10:00 am at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Ed’s honor to Flights for Christ or East Salem Baptist Church. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. Ed is survived by his father, Owen Austin of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sister, Callie Rapp and husband, Cletus of Belle Rive, Illinois; nephews, William, Erin, and Brady Rapp; niece, Casey Rapp Tucker and husband, Eudel; and special friend, Tammy Walker of Bluford, Illinois.
He was born September 30, 1965, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Owen and Alta Arlene (Scott) Austin. Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Alta Arlene Austin and grandparents.
