Bonnie Ritter, 85, of Carlyle, formerly of Hoffman, passed away peacefully Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Ida Manhart, husband: James C. Ritter; a grandson: Charles “Chuck” Schurdell; sister: Barbara Hagedorn. Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centralia. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. She collected tea pots and Precious Moments figurines. Most of all, Bonnie cherished the time she spent with her family.

Funeral Services for Bonnie Ritter will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Rodger Randolph officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Bonnie is survived by three children: James “Jim” Ritter, Jr. and wife Carol of Carlyle, Tammy Schurdell and husband Glenn of Hoffman and Kenneth D. “Dave” Ritter and wife Chelsea of Arnold, Missouri; 10 grandchildren: James Cody Ritter, III of Carlyle, Dylan Ritter of Carlyle, Crystal Heidlage and husband Eric of Hoffman, Jeanie Davis of Highland, Tina Howard and husband Jesse of Hoffman, Dustin Ritter and wife Megan of Trenton, Cassidy Friend and husband Ian of St. Charles, Missouri, Katrianna Stern-Ritter of Arnold, Missouri, and Veneta Stern-Ritter of Arnold, Missouri; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother: Kenny Manhart and wife Timee of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was born January 17, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Manhart and Ida (Arrowsmith) Manhart. She married James C. Ritter on February 25, 1955 in Glenridge, Illinois and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2017.
