John “Steve” Gibson, 64, of Chester, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Steve enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed listening to music on his radio and singing karaoke.
Funeral Services for John S. Gibson will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the chapel. He is survived by a son, Tim Gibson and wife Kim of Centralia; four grandchildren: Aiden, Alexia, Alanna, and Alija; three brothers: Randy Corrie and wife Dee of Carterville, Danny Corrie of Centralia and Mark Corrie of Centralia; three sisters: Doris Rhoden of Jacksonville, Florida, Margie Abraham of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Carol Dodson of Bethalto, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
He was born June 10, 1956 in Centralia, the son of William H. Gibson and Mary (Barnett) Donaho. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Allyssa, a grandson: Preston Gibson, three brothers: Billy Gibson, Mickey Gibson, and Dean Gibson, and three sisters: Maxine Gibson, Marilyn Gibson, and Donna Gibson.
