Fire destroyed a modular home used for storage at 15972 Bakerville Road south of Mt. Vernon early Wednesday morning.
Jefferson Fire reports the owner Jared Whipple, who was staying in a camper nearby, discovered the fire at 2:33 am. Flames were already shooting out one end of the building. When firemen arrived, the fire had spread throughout the building and had gone through the roof.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. There were no injuries.
Firemen were on the scene for about two hours.
Mt. Vernon City, Weber Township, Benton, and Ewing provided mutual aid on the scene, while Kell and Wayne City covered the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire. Litton’s Ambulance also stood by.
