A 30-foot long camper used as a primary residence in rural Opdyke was destroyed by fire late Wednesday night.
Jefferson Fire Officials say Billy and Sandra Lewis of 19,994 East Lynchburg Road had left their home for a brief period of time. When they returned, they saw smoke coming from the camper and flames shooting from the kitchen area.
The cause of the fire has not been determined but is not believed to be suspicious.
The Red Cross was called to assist the family that lost everything.
Firemen received the call at 11:20 Wednesday night and were on the scene for about an hour. Buford Firemen responded with a tanker on automatic mutual aid.
